Sheep & Goat Pregnancy Testing

This test offers a safe, accurate, and easy alternative for confirming pregnancy in sheep and goats. BioPRYN® measures the presence of Pregnancy-Specific Protein B (PSPB), a protein only produced by the placenta of a growing fetus, in the blood circulation of the ewe and doe.

BioPRYN is a useful technology that can be used for the reproductive management of sheep, meat and dairy goat herds.  In addition to being safe, accurate and easy to use, BioPRYN is supported by industry experts educated in integrating the test to improve the reproductive programs.

How to collect and ship blood samples

How to collect blood from sheep and goats  (Video)

1.  Label the sample vials sequentially with the ear tag or ID. Use a permanent marker on the vial LABEL. Labeling the tube
correctly will assist the laboratory in sample organization and help speed results.
2.  Place the tube in the refrigerator until shipment.
3.  Bundle labeled tubes together with a rubber band in groups of 1-10 tubes. Wrap the bundle with absorbent paper towel
(enough to absorb all fluid if all the tubes break) and place bundle inside a leak proof zip lock bag.
4.  Wrap the zip lock bag with bubble wrap or newspaper and place inside a cardboard box. Do not use padded or carboard
5.  Completely fill out the Farm/Producer Submission Form. Make certain that the total number of samples sent is correct and the
     submission form accompanies the samples.
6.  A check or money order, made payable to UNH, must accompany the samples and submission form.
7.  On the outside of the box write EXEMPT ANIMAL SPECIMENS
